FTP Hosting Data Center and Network

The success of your online tools depend both on the quality of the design and programming as well as the hosting environment. For this reason FTP Fast has built a robust internet hosting environment to make sure that your FTP Hosting service is available and responsive when you need it. FTP Fast is not a bulk hosting company, we measure the servers we host in dozens, not hundreds or thousands. This enables us to provide the resources to host even the highest volume FTP hosting sites while maintaining the personal service our customers have come to rely on.

In addition to the database, dns, mail, web and FTP hosting servers we use for our own and our customer needs, we host servers for other web developers and companies that have needs that are not well served with shared hosting resources. Our hosting facilities are large enough to provide the speed and reliability that customers demand while not losing the personal touch that our customers have come to rely on.

Internet Connectivity
Our Internet connectivity is provided by a fiber sonet ring that is part of a 20,000 mile fiber network spanning 30 states and 75 major US markets. The ring technology provides for sub second rerouting of traffic if there is a fiber cut in the network. Our internet feed is via an OC-12 (622 Mbits/sec) connection to an OC-192 (10 Gbit/sec) Internet backbone. From Milwaukee the backbone travels to both Chicago and Minneapolis and beyond. Therefore a fiber cut along an intra-city right of way will not remove your application from the Internet. FTP Fast has hot spare fibers in place and connected, and eight dark fibers are ready if needed.

Network Reliability/Security
All servers are behind a Juniper Networks Netscreen firewall. The firewall inspects all traffic into and out of our network. Each server has it's own firewall policies, this allows each server to have the maximum protection consistent with the services that server provides. We also offer deep packet inspection if needed.

The network itself consists of managed fast Ethernet switches with a gigabit Ethernet backbone. Network traffic is graphed in real time so that we can monitor network health and usage.

All web site content and databases are backed up to SDLT tapes every weekday. The tapes are stored in a fire safe, and weekly a set of tapes is taken off site and stored in a fire safe at the second location. We maintain tape sets that go back 2 weeks, so any file or data that is acidently damaged or erased may be restored for up to 2 weeks.

We are also monitor security related resources to make sure that newly released patches have not been found to cause problems. Unless there is a zero day exploit in the wild we will normally let patches age a day or two before installing them. We will then choose an off peak time to apply patches and do any needed reboots, this is normally done between 10:00 PM and 2:00 AM Central time or weekend evenings.

• All servers connected to managed UPS units with 30 mins run time.
• On site generator with 48 hours of fuel on site. The generator is started monthly, and on a quarterly basis the generator runs the complete NOC and all of it's systems for 30 minutes
